Google Vids Omni 1.2 Flash: Free 15-Second AI Videos (How to Use It)

Google Vids now lets personal Google-account and eligible Workspace users generate AI video clips up to 15 seconds long with Gemini Omni 1.2 Flash. Google says personal accounts can make up to three 15-second videos per month at no cost. The rollout began November 5, 2026 and can take 1–3 days to appear.

Quick start: Open vids.new on a computer → choose Create AI videos → Create → enter a prompt → choose portrait or landscape and a duration → Generate → Insert to save the result in your project.

What changed in Google Vids?

The November update moves Google Vids to Gemini Omni 1.2 Flash. According to Google’s launch announcement and Workspace rollout notice, the practical changes are:

  • Longer clips: choose a duration from 3 to 15 seconds.
  • Three free generations: personal Google accounts and Google Workspace subscriptions can generate up to three 15-second videos per month at no cost.
  • Better reference consistency: products and characters should stay more consistent when reference images are used.
  • More natural speech: the update aims to improve vocal realism and speaker variety.
  • Portrait and landscape: create clips for vertical or widescreen placements.

This is a rollout, not a promise that every account sees the controls immediately. Google’s Workspace notice says full visibility may take 1–3 days from November 5.

How to generate a 15-second AI video

  1. On a computer, open Google Vids.
  2. Select Create AI videos. In an existing project, use the AI video option in the right panel.
  3. Select Create.
  4. Optional: add reference images under Ingredients. Google’s current help page says you can upload up to seven images for a new clip.
  5. Write a prompt that covers the subject, location, action, camera, lighting, dialogue or sound, and tone.
  6. Choose Landscape (16:9) or Portrait (9:16).
  7. Move the duration control to 15 seconds. If 15 seconds is unavailable, wait for the rollout or check whether the feature is enabled for your account.
  8. Select Generate.
  9. Review the output and select Insert. Do this before closing the tab because Google says session history disappears when the Vids tab is closed.

These steps follow Google’s Vids AI generation guide. One caveat: parts of that help page still mention the previous 10-second limit, while the newer November 5 rollout notice explicitly says 3–15 seconds. The rollout notice is the fresher source.

Copy-paste prompts for Omni 1.2 Flash

Replace the bracketed text with your details. Do not upload confidential client material, private IDs, or images you do not have permission to use.

1. Product promo

15-second vertical product video for [PRODUCT]. Start with a close-up on a clean [COLOR] background, then make one slow orbit around the product. Soft studio lighting, realistic reflections, no jump cuts. End with space at the top for a headline. Natural product sounds, no dialogue.

2. Local-business social ad

Create a 15-second portrait video for a [BUSINESS TYPE] in [CITY]. Show [SERVICE] being performed, followed by a clean finished result. Warm natural lighting, steady camera, realistic motion, friendly tone. Leave the final three seconds visually uncluttered for a call-to-action overlay.

3. Image-to-video animation

Animate this image with a slow camera push-in. Add subtle natural movement to [SUBJECT], gentle background motion, and realistic lighting changes. Preserve the subject’s identity, colors, logo, and proportions. No new objects and no text changes.

4. Short explainer

Create a clear 15-second widescreen explainer showing how [PROCESS] works in three visual steps. Use one continuous camera move, clean labels with minimal text, high contrast, and calm narration. Keep all technical details exactly as provided in the reference images.

5. Product variation

Use the attached product images as strict visual references. Show [PRODUCT] in [SETTING] with a slow left-to-right camera move. Keep packaging typography, brand colors, shape, and proportions unchanged. Realistic shadows, no morphing, no extra labels.

A better prompt formula

Google recommends clear, precise prompts with rich visual and cinematic detail. A useful structure is:

Subject + action + setting + camera + lighting + audio/dialogue + tone + constraints.

For image animation, focus on the movement you want instead of repeatedly describing what is already visible. Google warns that redundant scene descriptions can confuse the model.

Availability and limits

  • Rollout: began November 5, 2026, with 1–3 days expected for feature visibility.
  • Personal accounts: included in the rollout; Google’s consumer announcement says up to three 15-second generations per month at no cost.
  • Workspace: available across listed Business, Enterprise, Education, Nonprofit, Individual and related editions. Higher limits may apply with the AI Expanded Access add-on.
  • Output formats: Google’s help page lists 16:9 landscape and 9:16 portrait, with 720p and 1080p output specifications.
  • AI limits vary: limits can differ by account and plan. Check the controls shown in your own Vids account before planning production volume.

Important safety and workflow notes

  • Use only images, logos, voices, and footage you own or are authorized to use.
  • Review every generated frame before publishing. AI video can introduce inaccurate details, distorted text, or unrealistic motion.
  • Do not treat generated clips as proof that a real event happened.
  • Insert useful generations into the project before closing the tab; current-session history is temporary.
  • Google says generated Omni clips are subject to its Generative AI Prohibited Use Policy.

FAQ

Is Gemini Omni 1.2 Flash free in Google Vids?

Google says anyone with a Google account or Google Workspace subscription can generate up to three 15-second videos per month in Vids at no cost. Account-specific limits may vary, so confirm the counter shown in your account.

Why can I only select 10 seconds?

The 15-second option started rolling out on November 5, 2026 and Google says visibility can take 1–3 days. Some Help Center text also still reflects the previous 10-second limit.

Can Google Vids make vertical videos?

Yes. Google’s help documentation lists portrait 9:16 and landscape 16:9 as supported aspect ratios.

Can I animate a product photo?

Yes. Use Create AI videos → Animate, upload a JPG or PNG, describe the desired subject or camera movement, generate the clip, and insert it into the project.

Does Google Vids save generated-video history?

Only for the current session. Google advises inserting the clip into your Vid because generation history disappears when the tab is closed.
