6 leadership Myths falsified

Different schools of thoughts think different about leadership but there are some myths that are wrong in the eyes of almost all. Let my falsify those myths.

I can’t speak well, I can’t be a leader:

Both the statements are wrong. Everybody can speak well so everybody can be a leader. Speaking well is a great way to start but that’s not the only starting point. Leadership is a proper process which is composed of different things and speaking is just the part of the process.

Your thought matters and you should be positive about that there are many people who can’t speak well yet they are leading, like many are managing different firms, many are running organizations. Speaking is an art which can be learnt easily.

There might be some situations where leader must speak well but are few in numbers most of the times your actions speak.

I need to be controversial:

You don’t need to be controversial at all you can be a good leader without any scandal or publicity stunt. All that matter is time and dedication. If you are master of what you are doing then certainly you deserve to lead.

To be a leader I need to be a diplomat:

No. not at all. I have seen many people climbing the stairs of leadership on the carpet of diplomacy and then falling badly backwards due to the same carpet of diplomacy.

You need to be clear and honest that’s all. There might be times where you’ll need to act intelligently but it doesn’t mean you need to be a diplomat. Act smart and be clear. There must not be anything ambiguous about you that’s all.

Leaders are born not made:

Leaders can be made. Even there is a school of thought who say that leaders are not born they are only made by situation but I would stick to both. Leaders are born and they also can be made. There are many people who specialized the skill of communication and leadership and conquered what they needed.

Leaders have extraordinary skills:

Leaders might have extraordinary skills but this is not compulsory option. You might lead several thousand people and yet be an ordinary person. Yes you need to master your field and that’s a must.

Leaders always have some secrets:

No. this is wrong too. This perception rose because most of the biggest leaders like Hitler and others had some secrets in their life but that’s not a must. There are many people who just became leaders without any secret.
